Department of Theatre and Dance Posters
Role: illustration, typography | 7 person collaboration
Ball State’s Theatre & Dance Department contained a series of posters inspired by their journey towards the new opening location of their building. While working directly with the directors of their corresponding plays the goal was to convey the stories the cast was telling.
Concept + Mood Board
The poster series is broken up into 3 different seasons – this season was “Saying Goodbye.” Therefore, the concept was to creating a framing device that symbolized the curtains closing at the end of a production. Which metaphorically shows the curtains closing on the old building.
We took inspiration from children’s story books and movies, which had phenomenal depictions of different ways to portray a framing effect.

The Sketches
The sketches utilized the framing effect concept by using imagery that was seen in the play – the mouth referencing the women empowerment in Revolt. She. Said. Revolt., or the moon and flowers seen in the stage set on Blood Wedding.
